Virginia, VA

Virginia (VA) is the 10th largest state in the United States and its capital city is Richmond. It was named after Queen Elisabeth the 1st of England who instructed Walter Raleigh to form a colony to the North of Florida. An interesting fact is that all new land found by the British was named Virginia. Its also named the Mother of Presidents because it was where 8 of America’s presidents were born.

The local community claims that the first ever Thanksgiving feast was organized in Virginia. For about a century, one of the most famous yearly events is the gathering of about 100 wild horses which swim from Assateague Island across to Chincoteague Island in East Virginia.

Vermont

Vermont is one of the New England states, located in the northeastern region of the country. Bordered by Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Canada (to the north), Vermont is one of the smallest states both in population and size. Both the state capital of Montpelier and the largest city, Burlington, are among the least populous cities in the country. With a Native American history, Mohawk and Abenaki people have inhabited the area for thousands of years. The state played a crucial role in both the Revolutionary and Civil War, having announced sovereignty from the British Crown in 1777 and abolishing slavery long before fellow states. As a northern state, the region is rich in mountainous and timberland geography.
