Kansas, KS

Kansas is a landlocked U.S. state of the Midwest region, bordered by Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma and Colorado. Although the area was populated by Native American tribes over thousands of years, the first permanent European settlers arrived in the area of Bonner Springs in 1812, leading to a large population boom throughout the nineteenth century. The state is predominantly low-lying, as it is made up mostly of the U.S.’ great central plains. This made the area highly productive for agricultural settlers, of which 90% of the state’s land is used for to this day. The state capital of Kansas is Topeka, meaning “a good place to dig potatoes” in the Kansa-Osage Native American language. The largest city of Wichita is known as a centre of the aerospace industry.

Kentucky, KY

Kentucky (KY) is the 37th largest state in the United States and is formally known as the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It’s found at the crossroads of 3 physiographic regions in the US, namely the Interior Lowlands the Appalachian Highlands and the Coastal Plain. It was nominated as a state in 1792 and became the 1st state on the west side of the Appalachian Mountain range. The state’s capital is Frankfort.

Kentucky has 5 national parks including Mammoth Cave, Cumberland Falls, Mega Cavern, and Kentucky Kingdom. It’s the home of the famous Kentucky Derby which is the oldest horse racing event held outside of Louisville. It’s also known as being the home for 95% of worldwide bourbon.
